Characterization of Aluminum Alloy–Silicon Carbide Functionally Graded Materials Developed by Centrifugal Casting Process

چکیده

The continuous development of modern industries rises the necessity for functionally graded materials. This research starts from consideration that incorporation SiC particles in molten aluminum alloy can be difficult due to very low wettability particles. In order increase their wettability, were covered with a layer metallic copper. into mass was performed by centrifugal casting. secondary hypoeutectic Al-Si used this study elaborated within crucible resistors heated furnace. coating particles, addition effect increasing metal, also has role preventing formation carbide case heating above 700 °C. A great amount attention paid parameters during casting process. results showed adjusting proportion composite allows us obtain values thermal expansion coefficient previously established limits. present work demonstrates thin Cu creates conditions easily incorporate them Al mass, thus obtaining FGMs controlled properties.
